Luxury Dog Boarding

Our Rooms

Here at Hurworth Burn, we offer high-end, luxurious rooms for your pooch. We have 37 rooms, all ranging in size, from small, cosy rooms for our smaller residents, to extra-large, for our multiple dog families or larger breeds. Each room is fully tiled to ensure good insulation through winter and staying cool in the summer, with underfloor heating, heat lamps above beds, TVs, and their own private outside area, which is fully covered and not facing one another. PVC curtains outside the hatches help retain warmth, and PVC doors reduce noise—especially beneficial for our more nervous residents.

We provide quality raised, elevated dog beds—ideal for elderly or arthritic dogs—along with bedding, raised feeders, and bowls. We always recommend bringing something that smells of home. We accept anything washable (in case of accidents), such as blankets, t-shirts, small beds, dressing gowns, and favourite toys, chews, or treats.

Exercise

We exercise all our residents separately unless they're from the same family. Two 20-minute sessions each day are included in the daily tariff. We have multiple secure exercise areas filled with toys and balls for playful pups, as well as larger walking zones for a good sniff and roam. All dogs are allowed off-lead; for those who are a bit more mischievous or less obedient, we use a longline for safety. An additional 20-minute playtime can be added daily—please refer to our additional services section.

Feeding

We provide a variety of food for your dog, included in the daily tariff. Our range includes complete dry foods like Dr Johns chicken, beef, and Tracker small bite—with optional meat mix-ins. We also offer a raw diet option at an additional £1 per dog per day.

Special diets (veterinary, grain/wheat/gluten-free, home-cooked, cooked meats, etc.) are not included and must be provided by the owner. We have ample fridge and freezer space for storage.

Vaccinations & Parasite Control

All dogs must be up to date with annual vaccinations and must receive the Kennel Cough vaccine at least 3 days before check-in. (Note: Kennel Cough is not part of the regular annual booster and must be requested separately from your vet.)

  • Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus – every 3 years
  • Leptospirosis – yearly
  • Kennel Cough – yearly

Dogs must also be up to date with flea and worm treatment—preferably prescribed by a vet. We do not accept Bob Martin parasite treatments.

Medication

We are experienced in administering all types of medication and follow dosage and timing instructions precisely. Unfortunately, we do not accept diabetic dogs unless they are managed via oral medication. Any treats or meat used to hide pills must be provided by the owner.
